Study MBBS in Bangladesh: a complete guide for Indian students
Bangladesh is one of the most popular choices for Indian students who want an MBBS abroad close to home. The course is taught in English, the syllabus closely follows the Indian MBBS curriculum, and students see the same kinds of diseases they will later treat in India. Kolkata, Guwahati and Agartala are only a short trip away, and the food, culture and climate feel familiar.
XEAL Education Works currently helps students with admission to 40 private medical colleges in Bangladesh, in Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, Khulna, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Comilla and other cities. You can compare every college, its city and its total fee in the table above.
Why Indian students choose Bangladesh
- Similar curriculum and disease pattern: the teaching and clinical exposure are very close to what Indian licensing exams test.

- Close to home: short travel, easy visits for parents, and Indian food is widely available.
- Clear total-fee packages: most private colleges quote one total tuition fee, usually paid in instalments.
- Hostels for foreign students in most colleges, including several women-only medical colleges.

NMC rules every Indian student must check
To practise in India after studying abroad, your degree must meet the National Medical Commission's Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate (FMGL) Regulations, 2021. Before you pay any fees, make sure the university and programme meet all of these:
- NEET-UG qualified: you must qualify NEET-UG to study MBBS abroad. The NEET result is accepted for foreign admission for three years.
- At least 54 months of study at one university, followed by a 12-month internship at the same university.
- English medium for the whole course.
- The degree must let you register as a doctor in that country, on the same terms as local graduates.
- The course must be completed within 10 years of joining.
- Back in India, you must pass the licensing exam (currently FMGE, until NExT is introduced) and complete a 12-month supervised internship in India.
XEAL Education Works checks these points for every university before we recommend it to you.
